Service Pack 9.2.2.4 Release Notes

Follow

This release focuses on smoothing out everyday workflows and replacing confusing error messages with clearer guidance. Highlights include:

  • A smarter default date in the Vanco import
  • An easier process for renaming Finance groups
  • Fixes to household management, check printing, and Church Register Events
  • Clearer, more helpful messages when backups, check printing, or report previews run into outside issues

New Features

  • Vanco Import: The "From" date now defaults automatically to the date of your last import, saving a step each time you run it.

Improvements

  • Finance: We've streamlined the process for renaming Major and Minor groups, making it quicker and more intuitive.

Fixes

  • Payments, Receipts, and Journal Entries: Clearing the document number on an existing entry and pressing TAB no longer produces the error, "Input string was not in a correct format."
  • Check Printing: Printing checks when the selected Book had no associated bank accounts no longer results in the error, "Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
  • Church Register Events: The Officiant/Speakers field previously limited entries to 50 characters. It now accepts several hundred characters, giving you room to record full details.
  • Household Management: Changing a person's household by editing the "Household name" field on their record no longer risks reverting and leaving them in their original household.
  • Household Management: When a head of household is moved into another household, the household drop-down list now refreshes immediately to reflect the change.
  • Networking: Resolved an issue where leaving the Edit Vendor window open during a network connection refresh could trigger the error, "cannot find the input table <table name>."

Improved Error Handling

These changes replace confusing technical errors with clearer, more actionable messages — or resolve the underlying interruption entirely.

  • Offering Batch Entry: If the batch entry window is minimized or covered by another window, attempting to Post (or perform other batch functions) now brings the batch window to the front automatically, rather than simply reporting that the batch is in use.
  • Print Preview Export: Exporting from a Print Preview window without first selecting a destination no longer produces the error, "Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
  • Backups: When a backup destination has an issue outside the software's control, you'll now see a helpful message explaining how to resolve it yourself, covering these situations:
    • The destination is a write-protected Windows system folder
    • The destination is a write-protected SD card or flash drive
    • The destination is out of storage space
    • A network path is no longer accessible
  • Check Printing: If your Windows print spooler or network print server is malfunctioning, you'll now see a message advising you to reboot your PC to reconnect those services, instead of the error, "RPC server is unavailable."
  • Report Printing: Improved how the preview window manages fonts, reducing the performance impact when generating reports.
